Curious what a typical wedding day looks like for our wedding videographers? Read on to get a glimpse of what all goes into our wedding day process!
Morning Drone Flight
Provided the weather is decent and the location allows it, we usually arrive before our start time to get beautiful aerials of the venue! That way we can be more present throughout the day and not have to duck away to get drone shots.

Fly on the Wall Approach
We try as much as we can to just capture things as they happen. When there are two videographers, we sometimes will split up to get both sides of the bridal party getting ready. When hair and makeup are done in small spaces, it may feel a bit odd initially to see a video camera around, but in the hustle and bustle of the day it quickly becomes forgotten. A lot of couples told us that they were surprised to see certain moments in their wedding video because they didn’t realize we were there!

“HIRE THEM. YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!
We hired them for our wedding and they did such a phenomenal job. The absolute nicest people I’ve ever met and they captured everything we wanted and more. They put in so many hours and got our video back to us so fast it’s crazy!! They worked great with our photographer. They were almost invisible on the wedding day but captured every angle and moment.” – Keenan McGovern
Working with the Photographer(s)
We like to work very closely with the photographer(s) throughout the day to ensure a smooth day for the couple. For staged moments such as couple photos, we attempt to get cinematic footage simultaneously while the photographer gets their shot. We may ask for something to be repeated quick if we see an idea for a cool shot, but overall we try not to add too much time to photo time while getting the best possible cinematic footage.
For the big moments such as first looks, the ceremony, speeches, etc, we communicate with the photographer to ensure we don’t interfere with their coverage plans while ensuring that we get the best possible footage.
We often try to help out photographers as well. We often help move things around for their shots, transport the dress around for detail shots, and whatever else they might need to ensure a smooth photo/video coverage process. That means less prep time for everyone and more time for the couple to relax!

Set-Up for the Ceremony
Prior to ceremony time, we have all sorts of set-up to ensure the best possible video and audio coverage. We coordinate with whoever is running audio and will try to hook up to their system. From there, we have back-ups to our back-ups when it comes to microphones. We know that once the show is on the road there’s no stopping it, so we plan for possible tech issues that may arise. When there are two wedding videographers, we try our best to get both the walking down the aisle shot and the reaction shot, which often makes for a heartwarming moment to watch back in the video.
Candids, Candids, Candids
We are recording pretty continuously on the wedding day. That’s because we believe the most beautiful moments happen when you would least expect them. We aim to capture as many of those moments as possible! This leads to lots of candids throughout the whole day from things like cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, and more! Some people may find it odd that we film during staged photo time with family, but we can’t tell you the number of times a grandparent has said something incredibly sweet to the couple as they walked up for a photo and with our microphone on top of our camera we picked it up. We think those moments are what make wedding videos so special.

Speeches & First Dances
After quickly fueling up with dinner, we’re back at it again for speeches! We often coordinate very closely with the DJ for this part of the day to ensure we know where people will be standing for their speech, ways we can hook up to ensure high quality audio, etc. Again, back-ups to our back-ups for the audio. 🙂 Like we mentioned, we coordinate with the photographer for both these moments. When their are two wedding videographers, we have multiple angle set-ups.
Capturing the Party
Once the dance floor opens up, you’ll often find us bopping along to music as we film the action! We try to strike a good balance of getting a bunch of candids of everyone having a blast while also giving the dance floor breaks from the camera. Our gimbal we use for stable footage makes for super fun moving shots in the midst of people partying!

The Night Comes to a Close…
As our video coverage comes to an end, the next leg of our video journey begins! Our tradition is to come home, upload all that footage from the day (there’s usually so much that this takes hours!), and watch some Smosh Reddit Stories (a Youtube show) with a big bowl of popcorn to celebrate another awesome wedding day shoot. 🙂 From there, we put countless hours into editing and crafting your story for a video that will allow you to relive your wedding day for years to come!
