Top 5 Coolest DIY Wedding Elements We’ve Seen

At Infinite Film Production, we’ve had the privilege of capturing so many unique and creative weddings. Some of the most memorable weddings have featured amazing DIY wedding elements that make the day even more special. Whether it’s a personalized guest book, an interactive game, or a fun activity for guests, these creative touches add a unique flair to the celebration.

If you’re planning your wedding and looking for inspiration, here are the top 5 coolest DIY wedding elements we’ve seen while filming wedding videography in Duluth!

1. Newspaper Ceremony Program

A newspaper program is a super creative way to keep guests entertained before the ceremony. It can even help guests get to know more about the couple or other guests at the wedding! In this couple’s newspaper, they included fun facts about their wedding prep and their guest list, such as “furthest location guest traveled from”, “number of dresses tried on before finding the one”, “number of days from engagement to the wedding day”, etc. On the back, they had a crossword puzzle where all of the questions and answers were about the couple’s love story such as, “place they had their first date” or “name of their dog they got together”.

2. I Spy Picture-Taking Activity

Looking for a great way to get tons of candid pictures from your day? By putting out small lists of things for guests to photograph, it motivates everyone to take lots of pictures. Include a QR code to a Google Drive folder or other photo sharing site option for guests to upload photos! You can also put out an open call on social media for guests to share their photos with you after the wedding. The guest that submits the best photos (judged by the couple!) wins a fun prize!

3. Playing Card Guest Book

Guest books rarely get pulled out and looked at, so why not have guests write messages on something you’ll see more regularly? For card game lovers, having a playing card guest book may just be the coolest option. The couple had printed playing cards with their engagement photos on them for people to write messages on.

4. Fun Facts About the Couple Giant Crossword or Word Search

Providing guests with entertainment during cocktail hour is a great idea, and we loved the creativeness of this idea. We’ve seen multiple couples get large dry erase boards with either a giant crossword puzzle with questions and answers involving the couple’s past or a Sip’n’Search word search with words that are important to their love story.

5. Raffle Giveaway for Handmade Outdoor Games

If someone is handy with woodcrafting, this is an awesome idea! One couple had a family member make beanbag boards, ladder golf, and giant Jenga that guests played during cocktail hour. Guests were invited to buy raffle tickets for a chance to win the games in a drawing later that evening. People got very into buying the tickets, and everyone seemed very excited when the couple called out the winners! All the proceeds from the tickets went to the couple’s honeymoon fund.
